TRAIN TRESTLE
In 1906, the International and Great Northern R.R. Co. built this
steel-span trestle to replace the aging and dangerous iron trestle of 1880.
Because builders reused the picturesque 1880 limestone piers adding new concrete
piers between them, the trestle possesses Austin's oldest remaining bridge foundation.
The AmTrak engine coming over the Trestle, and the University or Texas Womens Rowing Team under it.
A 360° panorama of downtown from the North end of the Trestle.
A closer look at downtown from the left side of the panorama.
100% size picture of a building in the panorama; I sharpened the details on the right picture a bit.
A nice little lagoon at the north end of the trestle.
I found this cool graffiti on the south end of town under the Slaughter Lane Bridge.
Austin's Hobo point of entry when riding the rail in from San Antonio.
Back at the Trestle towards the Lamar Bridge looking West, it was late in the day.
More coming soon...
